“What do you do?”
Anything.. Everything! Console, PC, iOS, Android, Unity, Web... C++, C#, PHP, whatever! High level, low level, tools.. I love making games and apps, I love writing tech.

I have a background in programming AAA C++ console projects, a talent for designing and developing core gameplay, and an appreciation for fine graphics and audio. I'm also a fantastic Street Fighter player, (I main Blanka), and I can beat you in a race in Gran Turismo...

As well as being a freelance developer, I also run my own indie development company, VAMflax, (check VAMflax.com).

VAMflax has released Chopper Mike, a 60 frames per second arcade helicopter game for iOS & Android. PC, Mac, and Ouya versions are coming soon. Chopper Mike is written in Unity and I have been the sole developer of it, I wrote the code, made the graphics, edited the trailer, even wrote the music!

I'm having fun creating rich gameplay while keeping performance sky high using Unity.

If you need someone to write something that's fun to play, looks and sounds amazing, and runs fast... get in touch.

“What have you done?”
I've made a load of good games.

I’ve been designing and programming games, and the tools and systems used to make them, since 1997.

I’ve worked at Codemasters, Sega, and Sony. These are the console games I've worked on...

“What bits do you do?”
I have designed and written code for every stage of development. From content authoring tools and export plug-ins, to the data building process, low level systems, resource management systems, high level game systems, (including state systems, menu systems, UI, graphics, audio, control systems, networking, animation... pretty much everything), right the way through to the core gameplay of a game—finding the magic numbers.

I love working on the core gameplay of a game, translating the inputs to actual movement and actions, using physics engines or whatever. I also enjoy writing super high quality shaders, and making a game run as fast as it can. I was born in the 70s, and grew up with 80s & 90s arcade games that all ran at 60 frames per second. If I had my way, every game would play, run, look and sound AMAZING.
“Highlights?”
#1. Making my own game, Chopper Mike. I have made every single part... code, music, graphics... all of it. Making your own game is the best thing ever.

I worked with the physics programmers at Sega to create the car handling for Sega Rally 3. I also programmed the force feedback steering wheel, and the motorised seat in the Sega Rally 3 arcade cabinet. That was cool.

This one’s a touch nerdy, but I've written two languages for describing data, and the compilers to convert them to platform-specific binary data. These integrated into the host resource systems to create incredibly flexible systems that enable programmers to create arbitrary file formats that don’t require bespoke compilers.
